ICBC – Preparing for Bargaining – Update #5
February 26, 2019
To: All MoveUP members at ICBC
Your bargaining committee met February 18, 19, 21, and 22 to continue preparation for bargaining. We spent time reading through all of the bargaining survey results, including every comment and suggestion submitted by the members. With over 1800 members taking part in the survey, we can safely say we are clear on your priorities and will be bringing your concerns, comments and suggestions with us to the table when the time comes.
The survey, along with the meetings we held last fall with your job stewards, confirmed what we already suspected would be the members’ priorities. These priorities will be the basis of the proposals we will present to ICBC.
Our collective agreement expires on June 30, 2019, and so we plan to serve notice to bargain shortly. It is our hope that ICBC will be ready to get down to the hard work of negotiating improvements in our collective agreement. As we explained in our Bargaining 101 bulletin, there is a continuation clause in our agreement which means that all of the provisions of our agreement remain in place until such time we negotiate a new agreement.
We will update you when we have secured dates with ICBC to commence collective bargaining.
Until then, we thank you for your support and your feedback as we prepare.
In solidarity,
Bargaining Committee:

Brenda Chu, Executive Board Member
Bryan Finstad, Executive Board Member
