ICBC – Optional Life and Critical Illness Insurance Reminder

November 27, 2025

To: All MoveUP members at ICBC

MoveUP wants to remind members that between November 19 and December 3, 2025, you have a special opportunity to purchase Optional Life Insurance and Optional Critical Illness Insurance without answering health questions as per article 18.02 (b) of our Collective Agreement.

Coverage Available During This Window

  • Optional Life Insurance
    • Up to $50,000 for yourself
    • Up to $25,000 for your spouse
    • Up to $25,000 for your children
  • Optional Critical Illness Insurance
    • Up to $50,000 for yourself
    • Up to $20,000 for your spouse
    • Up to $20,000 for your children

If you already have optional coverage below these maximum amounts, you can apply for the difference without health questions. For example, if you currently have $20,000 in Optional Life Insurance, you can increase it by $30,000 during this period without additional medical requirements.

Important Notes

  • Coverage ends when you retire, terminate employment, or reach age 70 (for spouse coverage, whichever comes first).
  • If you are on leave, premiums start once coverage is approved, but enhanced coverage begins when you return to work.
  • Outside this enrollment window, additional coverage requires health questions and approval.

Action Required

Visit mysunlife.ca between November 19 and December 3, 2025 to:

  • Review your current coverage
  • Consider adding Optional Life and/or Critical Illness coverage for yourself and eligible dependents
  • Update beneficiaries
