ICBC – Job Steward Bargaining Preparation Meetings
July 17, 2018
To: All ICBC MoveUP Job Stewards, Councillors, Executive Board Members
As you well know, our collective agreement expires on June 30, 2019. The process of collective bargaining will be new to many as we have numerouos new members who were not employed by ICBC during previous rounds of bargaining including several of our job stewards.
We are planning full day meetings with all our job stewards, councillors and board members this coming fall where we will discuss what it means to be in bargaining, how the process works and what you can expect. But most importantly, we want to hear from you what you feel are the key issues that need to be addressed in this round of bargaining.
Start talking to your coworkers and think about your own experiences as a job steward. What issue or issues do you see are reoccurring problems that can be addressed in bargaining? Bring with you up to three issues you would like to see addressed during bargaining. If you have solutions on how the change would look, bring that too. Remember, solutions need to work for multiple workgroups in numerous departments around the province. These sessions will be for you to tell your bargaining committee what priorities you feel are most pressing. As well, in early 2019 we will do a bargaining survey of all members, but first we want to hear from you.
