IBEW 213 strike vote and how it affects MoveUP members

July 9, 2025

To: All MoveUP Members at FortisBC and FortisBC-CSC

MoveUP has been advised that IBEW 213 is initiating a strike vote with its members at FortisBC over the coming weeks. While this is an important step in their bargaining process, no strike or job action is currently underway, and no picket lines are in place at this time.

We understand members may have questions about what this could mean for MoveUP members at shared worksites. For now, there is no impact on your work duties, and no action is required.

If a strike is authorized and notice is served, we will provide clear direction on your rights and responsibilities, including supporting IBEW 213 members in their fight, respecting their picket line, in person and virtually and the financial supports available to you such as picket pay.

We are in regular contact with IBEW 213 and will keep you updated as this situation develops.

If you have any questions or concerns about this situation, contact your job steward. Your union representatives – April Young and Paul Voykin – will be in regular contact with job stewards to provide them with updates to share with our members.

Thank you for your ongoing support and solidarity.

April Young, Union Representative
Paul Voykin, Union Representative
Rysa Kronebusch, Vice-President, Utilities
