Hastings Entertainment Inc. – Rollover Agreement

To: All MoveUP Member at Hastings Entertainment Inc.
Your Union has reached a rollover agreement with Hastings Entertainment Inc. The parties have agreed to roll over the agreement until December 31, 2021. The parties have agreed that upon re-opening a commitment has been made to discuss and possibly implement a pilot project on scheduling and seniority. This pilot project, should it be implemented, will have a time frame and will be reviewed during negotiations in 2021. We have heard from many of the Part Time Regular and Part Time employees that seniority and scheduling can be a problem for many members.

Your Union wants to hear from all of you, and to that end, we have scheduled a membership meeting via Zoom for December 2, 2020 at 5:30pm. Members can access the Zoom meeting via internet or your telephone. We look forward to discussing the MOA and any other issues that members may have.

You’re Union met with Great Canadian regarding the potential sale and what that means for Hastings Entertainment Inc. It is important to note that the sale will not be finalized until the second quarter in 2021, so approximately sometime in June. Great Canadian informed us that it will be business as usual for all their operations. In the meantime, your Union is researching Apollo Global Management Inc. to understand better what the acquisition means for Hastings.
We have also been in discussions with government to emphasize the need to get operations at Hastings re-opened. We are working with all the unions involved in the industry to get our members engaged in some upcoming campaigns to have the industry re-opened.
