Hastings Entertainment Inc. – Ratification Vote on April 29, May 2, and May 6

To: All MoveUP members at Hastings Entertainment Inc.
Your bargaining committee is pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative collective agreement with your employer, Hastings Entertainment Inc.
Some highlights of the tentative agreement include:
- 3 year deal, 2% retroactive to January 1st, 2022 with $250 signing bonus, then 4% retroactive to January 1, 2023 and 4% January 1, 2024
- Addition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to collective agreement, as well as the addition of sick days as provided for in the BC Employment Standards Act
- Addition of new leave language including Domestic and Sexual Violence Leave, Gender Transition Leave, Compassionate Care Leave and Trainee Union Rep Leave
- Improved job posting and trial period language
- Agreement from employer to meet within 30 days of ratification to discuss issues around tip sharing
- Agreement from employer to implement a process to assist members in accessing their pay stubs where needed through training and access to computers and printers
Your bargaining committee is strongly recommending ratification of the tentative collective agreement.
A ratification vote will be conducted in-person, to vote on the tentative agreement. You can view the memorandum here.
In attendance will be your bargaining committee and Union Representatives, Phil Bargen, Ronnie Ho, and Jenny Hu. This will also be your opportunity to vote on the tentative agreement. The vote will be conducted by secret ballot. Please make every effort to attend.
