FortisBC-CSC – Bargaining Update #6
December 9, 2022
To: All MoveUP members at FBC-CSC
A membership meeting was held last night with very little notice and for those who were able to attend we thank you. The committee did not take the last-minute meeting lightly and understood that not everyone would be able to attend.
In previous discussions it was communicated loud and clear from the membership they would like to be updated regularly. Your committee decided that this immediate update would be in the best interest of the membership.
Here are the highlights and a recap of events to date.
Your union met with the company on nine separate occasions. September 8 & 9, October 17 & 18, November 15, 16 & 18, and December 6 & 7.
Considerable progress has been made to date around nonmonetary items.
During negotiations on December 7th, the parties encountered a difference of opinion, not uncommon in negotiations. By mutual agreement both the company and your union determined they needed to go back to further discuss with their respective committees before moving forward.
Your union was willing to continue with negotiations for the remainder of the week, however the company was unable.
As the holiday season is quickly approaching, there is no availability to reschedule before the end of 2022.
Your union has provided the company with dates in January 2023 to resume negotiations. Additionally, we have provided dates in February should they be needed. Once dates have been confirmed, the membership will be updated.
Your bargaining committee is committed to negotiating the best collective agreement possible for the membership.
In solidarity,
Your bargaining committee:
Myra McIntosh, Executive Councillor
Colleen Rayner, Executive Councillor
Norm Stickelmann, Executive Board Member
Paul Voykin, Union Representative
April Young, Union Representative
