FBC-Expression of Interest: Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee

MoveUP is looking to fill a union representative vacancy on our Occupational Health & Safety Committee. The committee members serve alongside employer representatives and work to ensure that any health and safety related concerns in the workplace are addressed.
Now more than ever we need to ensure union representation is at the OH&S table!
The committee will be responsible for meeting monthly to identify and make recommendations that correct unsafe and unhealthy work environments. Per the Workers Compensation Act, time spent on approved committee activities and meetings shall be without loss of pay.
As a trained OH&S representative, you would conduct worksite inspections and participate in any investigations or inquiries at the workplace, as well as represent the union at the joint committee level. In addition, the Workers Compensation Act entitles committee members to eight (8) hours of educational leave each year paid for by the employer.
