Coast Mountain Bus Company – Seniority in Transit Survey Results
March 23, 2026
To: All MoveUP members at Coast Mountain Bus Company Transit Security
Dear Members,
Recently, several concerns were brought forward regarding the vacation and shift sign up process within the Transit Security Department. We want to thank everyone who reached out as your feedback is essential, and we take these matters seriously.
To ensure all members had an opportunity to share their perspectives, the Union issued a department-wide survey. We appreciate the strong participation and the thoughtful input received.
Below are the results of the survey:
Survey Results
Q1: Are you in favour of conducting shift sign-up in order of seniority, as determined by length of continuous service as a regular employee within a job group (changing the current practice)?
• Yes – 30.65%
• No – 69.35%
Q2: Are you in favour of conducting shift sign-up in order of seniority, as determined by overall union seniority (staying with the current practice)?
• Yes – 69.35%
• No – 30.65%
The results indicate strong support for maintaining the current practice of conducting shift sign-up based on overall union seniority. Members have made it clear that they prefer not to shift to a job group based seniority system.
MoveUP will continue advocating to ensure that the sign-up process remains transparent, consistent, and reflective of the will of our membership.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate and provide insight. Your voice guides our work, and together we ensure fairness for all members in the Transit Security Department.
In solidarity,
Andrew Cheverie, Union Representative
Dora Wong, Union Representative
