Bargaining
Coast Mountain Bus – Bargaining Update #7 – February 4, 2020
February 4, 2020
To: All Members at Coast Mountain Bus Company
Your Bargaining Committee and Employer met to continue collective bargaining on February 3, 2020, at the CMBC head office at Gateway. The parties met to discuss the concerns the Union had with the Employer’s attendance management program and identified the concerns members raised in the bargaining survey. The Occupational Health group from CMBC participated in the discussions with your Bargaining Committee. The parties received clarification on how the attendance management program has evolved over the last several years due to legal challenges.
In the afternoon on February 3, 2020 the parties participated in a joint discussion on the Training Department and it’s staffing levels.
The Union continued to make progress on agreeing to non-monetary language proposals. We continued to work toward achieving the improvements that were identified in the bargaining survey and membership meeting process.
Thank you for the continued support of your Bargaining Committee. As bargaining begins to reach a critical stage, it is essential that the Employer knows that we are all united as a group as they may see any signs of division as an opportunity that works to their advantage. In order to achieve the best possible agreement, we need to make sure that we show management that we are united in our goal of bargaining the best collective agreement renewal as possible.
The parties are set to meet again on February 10, 2020, in Burnaby at the MoveUP office. The Bargaining Committee will be tabling its monetary proposals.
The Bargaining Committee will also be hosting membership meetings at all respective CMBC sites (see schedule below), we encourage the membership to attend these meetings.
