CCIS – New Business Hours

To: MoveUP Members at Coastal Community Insurance Services
Your Standing Committee met with the employer on February 17, 2022 to discuss several concerns. In the meeting, we emphasized the importance of the issues below:
- Two consecutive days off is important to any employee’s physical and mental health.
- “Rotation scheduling” results in serious work-life imbalance.
- The regional job market trends result in ongoing staffing issues, especially at smaller agencies.
As a result of our discussion, the employer conducted an operational analysis and advised us that, effective April 4, 2022, the new business hours for four locations are as follows:

| Discovery Harbour | Monday – Saturday | Monday – Friday |
| Southgate | Monday – Saturday | Monday – Friday |
| Hammond Bay | Monday – Saturday | Monday – Friday |
| Gabriola | Close at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursday | Close at 4 p.m. |
As part of these discussions, the employer also advised us that there will be no reduction of hours for current members as a consequence of the above.
Your Standing Committee team will continue to discuss workload, recruitment, retention, training and occupational health and safety concerns with the employer in the coming weeks.
