BCGEU – New Joint Committees
March 14, 2022
To; All MoveUP members at BCGEU
Your union needs you. In efforts to improve your workplace, your employer is creating a new joint committees as well continuing the Joint Employment Equity Committee (JEEC) and the Psychological Health Committee.
Your stewards have participated in some of the new committee’s by creating the terms of reference and ensure that MoveUP members are well represented. We would like to thank all the stewards who volunteered to sit on the committees and acknowledge the work and hours you all contributed.
In consultation with your stewards, we would like to extend the opportunity to any member interested in joining these committees. You do not need to become a steward to join a committee, so for those members who are looking for another way to advocate for your membership we all feel these committees will be a great start.
Here are the committees and number of members from the MoveUP group needed:
1- Remote Work Committee- 2 MoveUP and 2 Employer
2- Early Intervention Program- 3 MoveUP and 3 Employer
3- Work from Home Committee- 2 MoveUP and 2 Employer
4- Violence, Bullying and Harassment (Sub-Committee of OH&S) Numbers TBD
5- Joint Employment Equity Committee- 2 MoveUP and 3 Employer, Jo Thorpe has already been appointed.
6- Psychological Health Committee- 2 MoveUP and 2 Employer. Patrick Coghlan will replace Ann Soucie as full-time member, one alternate is needed.
In addition to these employer created committees, we will be looking for members to join or contribute to the Job Description Committee and Workload Committee. These committees will be fundamental to our next round of bargaining and the workload issues you are all feeling through the last few years.
