BCAA RACC – Bargaining update #5
February 10, 2023
To: All MoveUP members at BCAA - RACC
On February 9, 2023, your bargaining committee received BCAA’s initial monetary proposal which included minor improvements to wages, benefits, leaves, and some premiums paid in your collective agreement.
Your bargaining committee was disappointed overall and made it clear to BCAA that substantial improvement was necessary to address the areas of the collective agreement you told us have fallen behind.
Your bargaining committee has proposed a three-year renewal of the agreement with a $2.00 per hour increase for all salary grades, retroactive to October 1, 2022, as well as in each subsequent year of the agreement to address your ever-increasing cost of living. BCAA has proposed a four-year renewal of the agreement with a 4% increase in year one, 2% in year’s two and three, and a 1.75% increase in year four.
This falls far short of the mandate we received from you to renew your collective agreement and fails not only to keep your wages commensurate with recent cost of living increases, but also fails to recognize your hard work over recent years that is directly attributable to BCAA’s unprecedented success.
Your bargaining committee has set aside numerous dates over the upcoming weeks to continue negotiations. We will update you as we progress.
