BC Transit Bargaining Update #2
November 21, 2022
To: All MoveUP members at BC Transit
Your bargaining committee met with the employer from Tuesday, November 15 to Thursday, November 17 to continue the process of renewing the collective bargaining agreement. Although we made progress and we have bargaining dates set for next week, we have also scheduled further dates through February.
As per normal bargaining protocol, the parties continued to address nonmonetary items. Time was spent determining the intent of each side and crafting language that meets the needs of both sides and that will fit into the language already in the collective bargaining agreement. Although there is still much to be done, considerable progress was made on the proposals that were discussed.
There continues to be a focus on the attraction and retention of workers and all discussions have been had with these goals in mind. Not surprisingly, there are at times differing views on how to achieve these goals. The discussions have been in good faith, and we are confident that the hard work being done at the bargaining table will lead to a recommended settlement.
If you have any questions about the process or anything else, please feel free to contact a member of your bargaining committee.
The parties will be meeting again on November 29, 30, and December 1. Further dates will be set as required.
Thanks again for all the support that you have given to your bargaining committee. We remain committed to bringing back the best possible agreement.
In Solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:
