BC Hydro & Powertech – Bargaining Update #8 – IBEW Declares Impasse
February 13, 2026
To: All MoveUP members at BC Hydro & Powertech
Hello everyone,
By now, you have likely seen the communication from your employer indicating that the IBEW 258 and BC Hydro were unable to reach an agreement, and the IBEW 258 declared an impasse yesterday.
Your Union has been aware of these developments and has been in ongoing contact with our IBEW 258 brothers, sisters and friends well before bargaining began. This outcome is not unexpected, as both the IBEW 258 and MoveUP have made little progress with your employer at the bargaining table since the previous agreement expired on March 31, 2025.
Once we receive official notice, Union Representative Mike Novak and your Vice-President, Rysa Kronebusch, will attend the essential services meeting at the Labour Board alongside the IBEW 258.
Please remember that this is IBEW’s fight, and we stand in support of their position. However, we are MoveUP, and we will continue to pursue our own bargaining. We plan to return to the table in good faith on February 23, 24, and 25.
Your bargaining committee remains focused on securing a strong contract for you and we will not accept the concessions proposed by your employer.
We will continue to share updates as they become available.
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:
Anderson Charles, Executive Board Member
Kim McInroy, Executive Board Member
Andrea McKenna, Executive Board Member
Kelly Cammack, Executive Councillor
Carol Brown, Executive Councillor
Luc Vail, Executive Councillor
Mike Novak, Union Representative
Rysa Kronebusch, Vice-President, Utilities
