BC Hydro Group – Standby Coverage for Distribution Design and Field Safety

To: All MoveUP Members at the BC Hydro Group
We write to advise that MoveUP and BC Hydro have reached an agreement to extend standby arrangements under Article 11.08 of your collective agreement to the Distribution Design and Field Safety teams on a pilot basis. Standby coverage for these areas is intended to primarily address unique situations such as severe storm warnings and/or wildfires, and for Field Safety, situations involving confined space work.
It is hoped that this standby pilot project will address some of the uncertainty around call-outs in these areas, and also provide MoveUP members in these areas with appropriate compensation for being prepared to come into work if necessary.
The standby pilot agreement will expire September 30, 2019, giving both MoveUP and BC Hydro approximately one year to review whether it meets their respective needs. We encourage any members in the impacted areas to reach out to the union office or a job steward during the pilot period with any comments or concerns.
