Advance voting opens September 10
September 9, 2021
To: MoveUP Members in BC
Advance voting for the federal election opens on September 10. Polling stations are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time on each day of advanced polling from September 10 to 13. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities to vote early and vote safely with less lineups. Unlike a provincial election, you must vote at your assigned polling station. You can find your polling station on your voter information card or use the Voter Information Service.
It is no secret that our union – including an overwhelming majority of our members as we have seen through the membership surveys we have conducted in the past – are supporters of the NDP and for good reason.
Over the years we have watched consecutive Conservative and Liberal governments make promises to support working class families only, instead, to continue to put in programs and policies that benefit the already wealthy and well-connected and further expanding the wealth gap.
At the same time, they have allowed corporate and business interests to speak out against programs such as universal pharmacare and dental care, increasing minimum wage, and taxing the ultra-wealthy, while continuing to erode public services by privatizing assets and using public money for corporate welfare.
The only party that has consistently fought for working class people and their families, as shown throughout the pandemic, have been Canada’s NDP. Our union is proud to endorse the NDP in this critical election that will shape Canada’s post-pandemic recovery. Our post-pandemic recovery must be centred around working people, and the NDP is the only party that will commit to that approach.
