About Vaisakhi
Vaisakhi is an annual spring celebration celebrated by the Sikhs since 1699. It is a holy day marking the birth of the Khalsa, a term referring to all Sikhs who have been baptized or initiated in a ceremony called Amrit Sanchar.
Vaisakhi is the harvest festival in the Punjab region of India and was celebrates the creation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh.
Vaisakhi took place this year on April 14, 2025.

MoveUP recognizes the significance of Vaisakhi and extends our warmest wishes to all members who observe this sacred month. Just as we celebrate Christmas, Diwali, Ramadan, and Lunar New Year, among many other observances, we honour Vaisakhi as a vital cultural and religious tradition for many in our union.
We encourage all members to take this opportunity to learn more about Vaisakhi, support colleagues who are observing, and foster an inclusive workplace where everyone’s traditions and beliefs are acknowledged and respected.
In solidarity,
Brenda Chu and Christy Slusarenko
