BCH – Personal Risk Assessments
April 7, 2021
To: All MoveUP members at BCH
BC Hydro has advised MoveUP that over the coming months, at the direction of the BC Utilities Commission, it will be implementing physical security changes to several stations. Employees requiring unescorted access to the sites in question will be deemed to be in security sensitive positions and asked to complete a Personal Risk Assessment (PRA), which includes a criminal record check. We have been advised that approximately 40 MoveUP members working at BC Hydro will be asked to complete a PRA.
BC Hydro has retained a third party, Mintz Global Screening, to conduct the PRAs. We understand that some of you have already received a request from Mintz. BC Hydro has advised that personal information collected in the course of the PRA process will be collected and used in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and will not be stored outside of Canada.
Criminal record checks for security sensitive positions are governed by Memorandum of Understanding #81 of your collective agreement. If you are asked to complete a PRA, we encourage you to review MOU #81 in detail and contact your Union Representative or Job Steward with any questions or concerns you may have.
In solidarity,
Tony Geluch, Union Representative
