BCH & Powertech – Getting prepared for bargaining: Make sure you register on our Member Portal

March 25, 2022

To: All MoveUP members at BCH & Powertech

If you are receiving this email, it means that you have been identified as a MoveUP member who currently does not have an active Member Portal profile.

This year is a bargaining year for your union and your employer at BC Hydro/Powertech. When the time comes to vote for a new agreement, it will take place on MoveUP’s Member Portal and we want to make sure you are able to have your say on the new collective agreement.

Registering on the Member Portal

All ratification voting will take place on MoveUP’s Member Portal. Once you have created a Member Portal profile you will have access to voting platforms as well as other important information related to your MoveUP membership. You will also be able to:

  • Verify and update your contract information
  • Check on the status of any active personal grievances
  • Check on the status of any workplace-wide grievances (also known as policy grievances)
  • Find sensitive communication pieces or tools that are not shared on the public website

To get started, click here to learn more about setting up your Member Portal profile. You can also watch these short tutorial videos to learn more about setting up your profile.

If you have any difficulties creating a profile, please contact our Membership Department at membership@moveuptogether.ca.

Why your voice is important

Your collective agreement sets out the terms and conditions of your work, including wages, conditions, and benefits that you receive, and your rights and entitlements as a member of our union.

These rights were not given to you by your employer out of the kindness of their heart. Instead, bargaining committees have fought long and hard dating back decades, and even walked on the picket line in the 1980s and 1990s, to win some of the hard-earned rights.

Today, the most important thing we ask of all our members is to be aware of what you are entitled to in your collective agreement, to let us know if you believe your employer is in breach of it, but also to vote when it comes time to do so for a new collective agreement.

Keep watching your emails or visit our BC Hydro Group page as we will share bargaining updates throughout the process and let you know when we have reached a tentative agreement and it is time for you to vote!

In solidarity,

Rysa Kronebusch
Vice-President, Utilities
