Wage increase negotiated for Shuttlers

February 23, 2018

To All Shuttlers at Avis

Your union and transition committee are pleased to inform you that we have negotiated a wage increase for the shuttlers.

The wage increase is retroactive to February 17, 2017. It will remain in effect for the duration of the current collective agreement until such time a new collective agreement is negotiated and ratified by the parties.

This wage agreement is without prejudice or precedent to future related or unrelated matters and will not impact the union’s rights and entitlements during collective bargaining to further negotiate wages in accordance with Appendix “A” (wage scales) of the collective agreement.

In summary, this means shuttlers in all wage tiers will be receiving a raise effective immediately. Shuttlers will also receive a lump sum bonus, depending on years of service, ranging from $150 to $500. This raise will not affect your union’s ability to bargain and negotiate future wage increases when bargaining commences.

Your collective agreement is set to expire on May 31, 2018.

Details of interim wage increase;

  1. The Employer will pay a lump sum $150 for every Shuttler who WORKED any number of hours since Oct 5, 2017 and has a base salary of $14.00 or less.
  2. The Employer will pay a lump sum $400 for every Shuttler who WORKED any number of hours since Oct 5, 2017 and has a base salary of $14.25 or greater.
  3. The Employer will pay a lump sum $500 for those shuttlers that are paid over the proposed interim wage scale below.
  4. There will be no reduction in wages that are above the proposed interim wage scale. The Shuttlers hourly wage will be raised to the minimums listed in the scale below and will be based on length of service seniority as of Feb 17, 2018

New Wage and scale increase:

Start      13.50

1 year   13.75

2 years  14.00

3 years  14.25

4 years  14.50

As you are aware, there was no pre-existing wage scale or formal increases. Approximately 41 Shuttlers were hired after 2015, who earn approximately $12.00 per hour.

In Solidarity,

Mike Novak
Union Representative
