Vancouver Shipyards Bargaining Update – October 19

October 19, 2018

To: All Vancouver Shipyards MoveUP Members

The Council of Unions Reps met on Wednesday October 17, 2018 to collate concerns raised at the Saturday ratification meeting, then the bargaining committee invited the employer back to the table to communicate the issues. The Union issued 72 hour strike notice Wednesday to provide pressure in an attempt to conclude a revised Memorandum of Agreement.

The negotiating committee met with the company representatives into the evening on Thursday October 18, 2018. The Union committee articulated the concerns, some progress was made. The parties are scheduled to meet again Friday October 19, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (October 22 -24, 2018) to continue to bargain if necessary.

No strike action is warranted at this time and members are reminded not to engage in strike action without the expressed consent of the Council of Unions.
