Tree Island – Bargaining update
April 12, 2021
To: MoveUP members at Tree Island
Since our last meeting in February, your bargaining committee met with the employer again in an attempt to see if we could bridge the impasse we had reached.
At our last meeting, the parties engaged in some good discussions. However, your bargaining committee was unable to convince the employer to move sufficiently, so mediation was once again paused. Today, the employer issued a bulletin to MoveUP members outlining their position, which in our view includes a suggestion that MoveUP members contact their bargaining committee and request we ratify the employer’s latest proposal.
Your committee still believes the employer’s latest proposal falls short in several areas, especially given the employer’s announcement April 1, 2021 regarding increased volumes, and the fact that Q4 numbers were quite positive, resulting in increased profits for Tree Island.
Membership Meeting Scheduled
Your bargaining committee has scheduled a membership meeting to provide a bargaining update, and to discuss our next steps. The meeting details are:
