Richmond Taxi Membership Meeting Recap

November 29, 2022

To: MoveUP Members at Richmond Taxi

We understand that joining a meeting during business hours can be challenging, so, in an effort to keep everyone informed, we have outlined the following:

  1. The employer intends to use its overseas dispatching operation solely, starting January 2023. This timeline may be adjusted.
  2. Your union has filed a s. 104 application for the employer’s violations, specifically contracting out. This application allows for access to an expedited arbitration hearing within 90 days.
  3. Your union will continue to participate in s. 54 discussions to attempt to jointly agree upon an adjustment plan.
  4. Do not resign. In the event that your income from Richmond Taxi discontinues, you are expected to mitigate your loss by seeking new employment and/or applying for EI.
  5. When the employer provides you with any new information about their operational plans, please inform the undersigned, via email, at your earliest convenience.

The resources below might be helpful:

  1. Work BC – this website contains a job board and resources on building resumes. There are 3 WorkBC locations in Richmond (Granville, No. 5 Road and Cambie St).
  2. Employment Insurance
  3. Indeed; Eluta; SimplyHired
