Kelowna Cabs – Tentative Agreement Reached

To: All MoveUP members at Kelowna Cabs


Your bargaining committee met with the employer for three days from January 17 to 19, 2024. We are pleased to announce that the parties have reached a tentative agreement.

Highlights of the tentative agreement are:

  • Increased severance pay
  • Increased sick leave for part-time employees
  • Addition of language for a Safety Committee
  • Inclusion of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a paid holiday
  • Amended language for working on New Years Eve
  • Increase to bereavement leave if you need to travel
  • Improved language for building access regarding security
  • Wage increases as follows:
    At ratification – $1.00 wage increase to each classification
    June 1, 2024 – $.50 wage increase to each classification
    June 1, 2025 – $.50 wage increase to each classificationFor Dispatch Supervisor, that’s a 10.14% increase in the life of the agreement
    For Dispatch, that’s a 10.98% increase in the life of the agreement
    For Call Taker/Clerk/Casual that is an 11.96% increase in the life of the agreement
  • In addition to the wage increase, all members employed at the time of ratification, will be entitled to a $200 signing bonus, less statutory deductions.

We appreciate your patience and understanding, and your bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of the tentative agreement.

Details of the membership meeting and ratification vote will be sent out shortly.
