Ironworkers 97 – Tentative agreement reached – Meeting and Voting Instructions

To: All MoveUP members at Ironworkers 97

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative collective agreement with your employer. The tentative agreement includes:

  • 3 year agreement from May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2026 as follows:
  • Elimination of Category 1 and 2
    • [Job Duties in current Category 1 and Category 2 shall be incorporated into Category 3]
  • Category 3—currently $31.57 [no current employees in this category]

Effective October 22, 2023              $36.35 [15.1% increase]
Effective April 28, 2024                   $38.13 [4.9% increase]
Effective May 4, 2025                       $39.96  [4.8% increase]

  • Category 4—currently $33.82

Effective October 22, 2023              $38.97 [15.2% increase]
Effective April 28, 2024                   $40.92 [5.0% increase]
Effective May 4, 2025                       $42.95 [5.0% increase]

Wage increases are 27% compounded over the term of the collective agreement, which will take effect within 18 months of ratification.

Other Improvements

  • National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (September 30th) added to the list of holidays.
  • Other holidays recognized by Employer will become holidays
  • First Responders Leave—5 unpaid days
  • Domestic or Sexual Violence Leave
  • Gender Transition Leave
  • Employer paid eye examination to $100
  • Grievance Procedure and Timelines
  • Added list of arbitrators
  • Improved Employee Investigation and Discipline Process Language
  • Improved Bullying and Harassment Process Language
  • Letter of Understanding: Joint Committee on Remote Work
  • Letter of Understanding: Joint Committee on Hours of Work
  • Ability to work on worksite closure days

The parties agree to unanimously recommend acceptance of this Memorandum of Agreement to their respective principals.

We will be holding a meeting on October 31, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. with the MS Teams details sent to members in order to review the tentative agreement with you.

In attendance will be me (Daniel Storms), your Union Representative and members of our bargaining committee to answer any questions you may have about the Memorandum of Agreement.
