Enterprise Rent-A-Car Canada Company non-unionized Enterprise counter (Beckwith employees movement to YVR) UPDATE

September 7, 2017

To: All MoveUP members at Enterprise Rent-A-Car Canada Company

Your union attended mediation with the employer on November 30, December 1st and December 2nd, 2016 as a follow up to the original hearing that took place in March of 2015 (attached here).

During the last round of dates in 2016 the employer and your union entered into mediated settlement discussions that lasted the duration of the three days, unfortunately the parties were unable to reach agreement and new dates were set to begin tomorrow September 8, 2017 through September 15, 2017.

Your union believed we had a strong case and were prepared to fight the employer every step of the way to protect our members at Enterprise Rent-A-Car Canada Company and our bargaining unit work at the Vancouver International Airport.

On Tuesday, September 5, 2017 just before noon less than three days before the start of the second hearing the union’s Legal Counsel was contacted by the employer’s Legal Counsel and advised that Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company Canada would not be proceeding with their proposed plan to bring non-unionized Beckwith Employees to YVR.

It is the union’s strong belief that the employer conceded their case because they knew that they would lose.

This is a huge victory for the union and its members at Enterprise Rent-A-Car Canada Company.

This victory sends a clear and absolute message of how seriously the union and its members take bargaining unit work and the extent the union will go to protect it.

We would like to thank all the members that came forward and participated in the process, the membership provided important information that greatly strengthened our case.

This success could not have been reached without a team of people dedicated to protecting our members at Enterprise Rent-A-Car Canada Company.

A special thank you goes out to the union’s Legal Counsel, Senior Union Representative Brad Bastien, Union Representative Mike Novak and previous Union Representative Glen MacInnes for their dedication to this case.

In Solidarity,

Cathy Hirani,  Union Representative
