Enterprise – COVID-19 Business and Kronos Update

June 5, 2020

To: All MoveUP members at Enterprise

We hope you are all doing as well as possible in these difficult times.

BC has done an excellent job of flattening the curve and I am sure we are all hoping this will continue.  Unfortunately, other parts of the world have not done the same and the car rental business is of course highly dependent on travel.  This will mean that it will take longer for the industry to recover in general as borders will remain closed and consumer and business confidence will have a negative effect on travel.

Union membership always pays off in terms of better wages and benefits.  It also pays off during extraordinary situations such as COVID-19. During these difficult times your Union has worked hard to ensure your both your collective bargaining rights and safety have been protected.  Valuable information on the pandemic continues to be available at https://moveuptogether.ca/the-latest/covid-19-resource-page-flatten-the-curve/.  We will continue to update this page as new information becomes available.

We have recently seen some members called back to work and we are of course hoping that this trend will continue.  Airlines are scheduling more flights and people are showing more of a willingness to travel.  These are of course good signs for the car rental business.

Enterprise is in the process of implementing the Kronos time management system.  This plan has been in place for a long time.  We have spoken to the employer about the system.  We have been advised that no additional information will be collected beyond the information that the employer already has.  An explanation that has been provided by Enterprise about how the system works can be found here: Employer Doc

Electronic sign-in systems have been implemented over the past several years (including at one other YVR car rental company) and implementation will continue to happen.  Some employers are even using retinal scans.  Enterprise has confirmed that a system will be in place to ensure that the Kronos equipment will be clean and safe.  If you have concerns about safety or anything else then please let myself or a Job Steward know and we will attempt to help.

If you have questions about the above or anything else please contact Shawn at slakusta@moveuptogether.ca.

In Solidarity,

Christy Slusarenko, Vice-President of Combined Units
Shawn Lakusta, Union Representative
