BC Transit – Tentative Agreement Reached – Memorandum of Agreement

March 27, 2023

To: All MoveUP members at BC Transit

Please find attached the memorandum of agreement negotiated between your union and BC Transit. Your committee is strongly recommending approval of the tentative agreement.  The agreement is the result of much work done over the last several months. Should the new agreement be ratified then the wages will be retroactive to the expiry of the last agreement on March 31st 2022.

Your committee would like to thank the members for the support and patience we have been provided.  We would not have been able to achieve gains we did without the input and solidarity received from the membership.

The committee would like to also thank Sal Ruffolo for his years of service as a job steward and bargaining committee member.  Sal has not officially announced his retirement but he has indicated that he will very likely be retired before the contract expires.  If he does decide to retire we will of course not have the same opportunity to thank him.  Sal has spent 35 years working to improve the working lives of members in leadership roles with both CAW/Unifor and MoveUP.  His contributions have been numerous and the current committee was proud to sit alongside him at the bargaining table.  We are also proud to call him a friend.

Your Bargaining Committee:

Tiffany Rivers, Job Steward
Kayla de Puit, Job Steward
Glen Redden, Executive Councillor
Sal Ruffolo, Executive Councillor
Shawn Lakusta, Union Representative
