Bargaining

BC Regional Council of Carpenters–Bargaining Update #3

April 11, 2022

To: All MoveUP members at BCRCC

The employer and your union resumed negotiations on March 28-30, 2022. The parties were able to agree on several housekeeping proposals.

During discussions it has come to our attention that the employer may have negotiated directly with members, outside the provisions of the collective agreement, different entitlements than what has been negotiated by your union. A few of these are seen as entitlements under the collective agreement that you may not be receiving.  It is important that we understand that MoveUP is the sole bargaining authority for the members at the BCRCC, and any changes to your conditions at work need to be communicated and agreed to by your union (even if they may result in an improvement to your entitlements).  Now that we have been made aware, we will be working towards rectifying these issues.

The parties have scheduled further dates and will meet again for bargaining on April 12, and April 14, 2022.

In Solidarity,

April Young, Union Representative
Daniel Storms, Union Representative
Merissa Cox, Bargaining Committee
Christy Slusarenko, Vice-President of Combined Units
