Meeting Notice

BC Hydro – FSR Mitigation Strategy and what that means for you

January 19, 2024

To: All MoveUP members at Various BC Hydro Locations

On Monday, January 15, 2024, your employer announced plans to downsize the Customer Meter Reading Department. Typically, when that happens, affected members in those areas would be offered Article 9 – Displacement, Layoff and Recall. You can find Article 9 on our website:

https://moveuptogether.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/BCH-Collective-Agreement-2019-2022-September-22-FINAL-SENT-TO-PRINT.pdf

However, given the unique circumstances of these layoffs and the areas affected, and to mitigate layoffs, your union and employer have negotiated an additional step prior to Article 9. Your employer has agreed to offer severance packages to members in affected areas. This option is completely voluntary and has been negotiated outside of the collective agreement.

Your union representatives, alongside MoveUP Senior Representative Cheryl Popeniuk and Vice-President, Utilities Rysa Kronebusch, will be hosting a meeting to provide you with further clarity on the severance option and Article 9, as well as the next steps.

The meeting details are as follows:

When:      Tuesday, January 23, 2024
