36th Annual Summer Institute for Union Women (SIUW) – Call out for submissions

The Women’s Rights Committee is putting the call out for submissions to our sisters of MoveUP to attend the 36th Annual Summer Institute for Union Women (SIUW). This year, the SIUW will be held in Honolulu on June 27th through to July 01, 2017.
This year’s theme is: “Continuing the Legacy: Responding with Direction, Unity & Strength”. Union sisters everywhere have a proud history of resistance, resilience, and focus in formulating and organizing a unified response to threats on workers’ rights and women’s rights. This institute will focus on providing union women with opportunities to network and share their expertise, while also a providing content and practical strategies useful for informed response

The application criteria will be based on participation, an interest in learning and promoting women’s issues through activism along with the following:
· The applicant’s experience and activism.
· The applicant’s attendance at other women’s education courses
· What has the applicant done already to further raise awareness of women’s concerns
Participation in all events, (plenary, workshops, protests and core classes) is mandatory. A written report submitted to the chairs of the Women’s Right Committee detailing the experience is also required. Applicants who have not attended SIUW in the past will be considered before any applicants who have attended SIUW in the past, but we encourage all who are interested to apply..
Registration will be closed April 17th at 4:00 P.M.
