Tree Island – Bargaining Update – Union Applies for Mediation

To: All MoveUP Members at Tree Island Industries
Your bargaining committee and Tree Island met for negotiations on a renewal collective agreement on October 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, and 29, 2020.
While the Parties were successful in resolving almost all the non-monetary items, we have come to an impasse with regards to monetary items.
The Union has applied under Section 74 of the Labour Code to have a mediator assigned to assist us in reaching a settlement on all outstanding issues. The Board has assigned mediator David Schaub to assist us, and the Parties have tentatively scheduled the week of January 25, 2021 to meet with the mediator.
While the Parties have scheduled time in late January for mediation, your bargaining committee will also meet with the Employer prior to mediation to attempt to resolve our outstanding issues.
Your bargaining committee will provide updates on the mediation process after our meetings in January.
