Canadian Freightways – Bargaining Update #3

April 5, 2019

To: All MoveUP members at Canadian Freightways

Your Union and Employer met in Burnaby on April 3, 2019, to continue negotiations for a new collective agreement.  We are pleased to announce that we were able to reach a mutually beneficial settlement which includes:

  • 5-year term
  • Wage increases in each year of the Agreement (retroactive to January 1, 2019)
  • Reverting drug coverage to previous Health Care Plan
  • Increase to Weekly Indemnity
  • Improvement to Bereavement Leave

Your bargaining committee was also able to achieve further rights and benefit improvements.

We have tentatively scheduled ratification of the agreement for the week of May 6-8 in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver and May 13-16 in Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon.  It is imperative that you make every attempt to attend as voting will take place on site at the terminals after the meetings.  There will be the option for members in Whitehorse, Kelowna, Lethbridge and Grande Prairie to call in to one of the meetings, as they will be provided with ballots in advance of the calls to be able to cast their votes.

Once the arrangements have been confirmed we will advise you of the dates and times at your terminal locations.

As these bulletins are distributed through personal email addresses, please make sure you coordinate with your fellow sisters and brothers at your terminal to share the above information and/or to provide the Union with any update to your personal email contact information.

In Solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:

Lorna Lohner
Mike Novak, Union Representative
Cheryl Popeniuk, Senior Union Representative
