Joyce has been working in the labour movement and on behalf of MoveUP members since 1991 when she became a job steward and was first elected as a board member in 2002.
She was previously an executive councillor for Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton, during which time she participated in several successful arbitrations.
As a union trainer Joyce has taught week-long labour studies courses for the Canadian Labour Congress, job steward training and Conflict Resolution.
Joyce has extensive committee experience. She participated in the Human Rights Committee for many years, the Joint Return to Work Committee, Wellness Committee, Joint OH&S and the Workload Committee. She was elected as the Aboriginal Caucus Representative at the BC Federation of Labour and served one term. She currently sits on the Women’s Rights, Solidarity, and Political Action Committees.
Joyce has been an Harassment Advisor at ICBC since 2000, participated in the Management Survey Focus Group, Pay Equity and was integral in the salary upgrade of the (then) Bodily Injury to a pay-grade 11. She has taken several courses to improve her workplace on behalf of her colleagues including Ergonomics, Duty to Accommodate, Facing Management and Recognizing and Preventing Violence in the Workplace.
