Gwenne comes to MoveUP as a financial analyst with BC Hydro. First elected as a vice-president in 2005, Gwenne’s first elected position with the union was as a job steward in 1996. In the spring of 2007, Gwenne was also elected to the office of secretary-treasurer of COPE-SEPB, MoveUP’s national union. She stepped down from that position after nearly a decade of service in 2016 and now sits as the National Vice-President for Region 4. Gwenne chairs a number of MoveUP committees, including the Health and Safety, Convention, and Arbitration Review and Education committees. She is a delegate to the New West & District Labour Council executive and is a member of the Canadian Labour Congress’ National Political Action committee as well as the Health and Safety and Environment committees. Gwenne has been dedicated to volunteer work since she was a young child and is always able to find time to help in her community. She is deeply involved with the United Way of the Lower Mainland, sitting on the Labour, Finance and CIRC committees. She has been involved with the White Rock Players Club for over 40 years including acting as their treasurer for nearly 15 years. Gwenne holds a B.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University. Gwenne lives in White Rock with her husband, Tom and a menagerie of pets.
