SUMMARY:Members Family Day at Playland
DESCRIPTION:MoveUP invites you and your family to come out to Playland on July 13\, 2019 for a day of rides and a barbeque get together. \nOur day will include: \n\nAdmission to Playland with All Day Play pass\nUnlimited access to over 30 rides & attractions (including basketball and rock climbing)\nFour hours reserved in a private BBQ location at the Flume special events area with tents and picnic tables from 11AM to 3PM.\nFace painting in this area from 11:30 pm to 2:30 pm\nA BBQ Buffet from 12 pm to 1:30 pm which includes beef\, chicken\, veggie burgers\, hotdogs\, mixed green salad\, potato salad\, potato chips\, mini cupcakes and fountain pop.\nAs we are doing a larger group this year there will be 2 separate eating times – half of the attendees will get one colour wristband for 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm and the other half will get a different colour wristband for 12:45 pm to 1:30 pm.  This is for buffet lineup only.  Everyone can be in the area at the same time.\n\nWe anticipate this event will sell out fast so do not delay in registering for this event! \nTickets are:\n$30.00 – OVER 48″ in Height\n$20.00 – UNDER 48″ in Height\nChildren 3 + Under – Free \nThere is a limit of 4 tickets per family – member must attend. \nWe must know if the ticket is for someone 48″ and taller OR under 48″ – for wristband distribution. \nTickets for this event will go on sale at 12:00 pm this Wednesday June 12th\, at that time please click HERE. \nParking is not included.  On Site parking is $13.00. \nTickets MUST be picked up between 10 am and 11 am at Gate 13 (off of Hastings) – See map. MoveUP’s Events and Social Planning Committee volunteers will be available at Gate 13 to hand out tickets.  This is the only time and place that you will be able to pick up your tickets. \nWe look forward to seeing you!

DESCRIPTION:MoveUP’s Events and Social Planning Committee invites you to attend the Saturday\, July 6th game between the Victoria HarbourCats and the Bellingham Bells. The Victoria HarbourCats are part of the West Coast League\, one of the premier collegiate summer leagues in North America. This league is known as the “Diamond Standard” of summer collegiate baseball and the players are MLB prospects. \nThe Bells and HarbourCats renew their North Division rivalry in game two of their three-game set\, the Bells only regular season visit to Victoria this year. It’s Saturday night baseball at its best!  The Bells and HarbourCats rivalry will be as strong as ever in 2019. \nMoveUP members are welcome with up to 3 guests for a maximum of 4 tickets -(a MoveUP member must attend the game). \nEvent Date: Saturday July 6\, 2019 \nDoors Open at 5:30 – Game starts at 6:35. \nTickets are $15 each for guests over the age of four. SUMMARY:Hastings Park - Day at the Races
DESCRIPTION:MoveUP members are invited to an afternoon at Hastings Racecourse. \nMembers\, along with one guest\, can watch the races trackside located right by the finish line. \nCheer on our MoveUP sponsored horse running in a feature race. \nMoveUP will provide hot and cold appetizers as well as one drink ticket per ticket holder.  Appetizers will be available starting between 2:15 – 2:30pm. \nTicket price is $15 per ticket. SUMMARY:Lower Mainland Children's Breakfast with Santa
DESCRIPTION:Santa will be there\, along with his elves\, for balloon animals and face painting. \nThis year we will have two breakfast seatings – one at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m. \nDue to the high number of expected registrants each member may invite one adult family member and up to four children from their immediate family\, ages 12 and under. \nRegistration donation for this event is $15 for each member.  Registration includes one family adult guest and up to 4 children\, 12 years of age and under. \nEach child guest is asked to bring a new\, unwrapped toy to be donated to the BC Federation of Labour annual Christmas dinner for residents of the downtown eastside community. \nYour registration fee of $15 will be donated to the lower mainland food bank to help families in need. \n     Date:         Saturday\, December 8\, 2018 \n     Where:    Firefighters’ Hall\, 6515 Bonsor Avenue\, Burnaby\, BC \n     Time:       First Seating – 8:30 am to 10:00 am  /  Second Seating – 11:30 am to 1:00 pm \nHow to Register: We have set up two Eventbrite registration links so you can choose which seating you wish to attend. DESCRIPTION:Members and their families are invited to celebrate Labour Day with members from other unions at the Pacific National Exhibition.  We will be supplying guests free admission\, MoveUP water bottles and a $5.00 Concession voucher.  Tickets will be $5.00 each (up to 5 tickets in total).  Tickets will go on sale on August 14th at 5 p.m..  Please click HERE at that time to purchase your tickets.  Guests will be required to pick up their tickets before the rally at the Pacific Coliseum between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. – please note this is the ONLY time that you can get your passes into the PNE.  The Rally starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends before the PNE opens at 11:00 a.m. to allow members to get into the PNE before the general public and avoid lineups. This event is for MoveUP members and their guests only.  Due to the nature of this event we anticipate that tickets will sell out quickly. \nThere will be more details sent to you in the week prior to the event.  If you have any questions click here. \nLabour Day as a holiday was inspired by trade unions’ efforts to improve workers’ rights. Its origins can be traced back to 1872\, when the Toronto Trades Assembly organized Canada’s first significant labour demonstration\, with the goal of securing a nine-hour work day. The strikes proved that there was power in workers standing together; alone\, people risked discipline or layoff for drawing attention to low wages\, long hours\, or health and safety issues. \nEnormous public support and spinoff demonstrations in other cities led Sir John A. Macdonald\, Canada’s first Prime Minister\, to promise to repeal Canadian laws against trade unions. With unions no longer outlawed\, this led to the 1883 founding of the organization that would become the Canadian Labour Congress. In 1894\, Labour Day was declared a national holiday. \nLabour Day is a time to celebrate the many contributions working people\, through their unions\, make to building communities and a better country. The work unions do today to make life better for workers\, their families and communities\, is no less important and requires the same type of commitment to standing together.
