SUMMARY:Pacific Northwest Raptors Event
DESCRIPTION:MoveUP Environment Committee will be hosting an event at the Pacific Northwest Raptors sanctuary on September 14\, 2019. If you are interested in joining us on an informational tour about birds of prey please join us. For more information on what the event entails please visit the Pacific Northwest Raptors website at www.pnwraptors.com. \nDate: September 14\, 2019\nLocation: The Raptors Centre – 1877 Herd Road\, Duncan\, BC\nTime: 11:45 am arrival. We are scheduled for at 12:45 pm tour and 1:30 pm demonstration.\nPrice: $20/person \n– come and bring a lunch for a picnic at 11:45. MoveUP will be offering some light refreshments before the 12:45 tour begins. \n\n20-30 minute tour\, followed by a flying demonstrations (another 30-40 minutes).\nAn Encounter for those aged 8 yrs old and older\, which is a 45-60 minute experience where they’ll get to get up close with some birds\, hold a few birds on their glove\, and then go for a Hawk Walk after.\n\n– For children 4-7 there is a Kid’s Encounter with them during the Encounter\, where they’d get to hold one of our smaller birds on their glove. \nPlease RSVP as soon as possible as we have limited spaces for the tours/demonstrations and send all your requests for the event to Kathryn Prinz\, by August 30th. \nAlso\, if you interested in carpooling to the event\, please be in contact with Melissa Maher who will be organizing. \nIn Solidarity\, \nMelissa Maher\nEnvironment Committee Chair \n

SUMMARY:Job Steward Level 1 Training
DESCRIPTION:MoveUP is offering level 1 training for all job stewards\, executive councillors and executive board members who have not previously attended this course. \nDate:\nSaturday\, September 28\, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (lunch will be provided)\nSunday\, September 29\, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.\nAll registrants are required to attend both days.\nLocation:\nMoveUP office (McPherson Room)\n301-4501 Kingsway\, Burnaby\, BC\nIf you are interested in registering for this course\, please complete the online registration form here in full. \nThe deadline for registration is 4:30 p.m. on Friday\, September 6\, 2019. \nPlease register early to accommodate any leave of absence that you may require. If your employer requires more than three weeks’ notice for leave requests\, please email jbanfield@moveuptogether.ca at the time of registration to ensure that the request is sent within the timelines of your specific collective agreement. \nA reminder that the Job Steward level 2 training will be held on October 19 and 20\, 2019. Registration for this course will open on Monday\, August 19. In order to register for level 2 training you must have completed the Job Steward level 1 training or similar training specific to your bargaining unit.  Contact us to confirm your previous  MoveUP training. \nIf you plan to register for our annual Job Steward Seminar in March you must have completed both Job Steward level 1 and level 2 in order to attend. \nLate registrations may not be accepted. \nConfirmation letters and travel/accommodations (if applicable) will be emailed by Wednesday\, September 11\, 2019 to the address you provide on the registration form. \nPlease note cancellation deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday\, September 18\, 2019.
