Avis Budget – Policy Grievance – National Day of Mourning

I write to inform you that a policy grievance has been filed against your employer for their failure to recognize the National Day of Mourning on September 19, 2022, as a holiday. Your collective agreement states under Article 24.01 “and any other day that may be stated a gazetted public holiday by the Provincial and/or Federal Government or as passed by Order in Council.” Our interpretation is that September 19 should have been recognized, and thus a policy grievance was filed.
