GFFG Common Employer Application

May 15, 2023

To: MoveUP Members at G & F Financial Group

Since the merger with the Grand Forks District Credit Union (“GFCU”) was concluded in January 2023, your union had engaged into discussions with Gulf & Fraser Fishmen’s Credit Union (“GFFG”) about the consolidation of the GFFG and GFCU certificates. The employer was unable to coordinate its internal efforts to file their Successorship application with the BC Labour Relations Board (“LRB”). Last week, your union applied to LRB seeking an order that GFFG and GFCU be harmonized into one bargaining unit.

Your union strongly believes that there is no separation of work between the two units and the employer’s intention is to consolidate resources and systems for their operational developments. If our application is successful, the harmonization will result in a better bargaining position to improve your compensation package including but not limited to wages and extended health benefits.  Your collective agreement will expire on June 30, 2023. Until a newly negotiated collective agreement is achieved, both parties will continue to work under the terms and conditions as set out in the current collective agreement. We are waiting for the LRB to review our application and determine whether an evidentiary hearing is required for your Union’s Common Employer application. In the meantime, we proactively work to ensure that our bargaining strategy remains effective and focused. We will continue to update you with information when it becomes available to us.

Your union has recently launched a request page for you to obtain your Member ID. This type of requests typically peaks during ratification votes. We respectfully ask you to keep your contact information, specifically telephone numbers and email address, current by following the instructions here. Thank you for your time and patience.

In solidarity,

Anny Chen, Union Representative
