Policy Grievance – Annual Vacation Part Time Regular Employees

October 13, 2020

TO: All MoveUP members at FortisBC-CSC

We are writing to provide you with an update on the policy grievance regarding the annual vacation entitlement for Part Time Regular (PTR) employees.

As you may recall, we wrote and informed you that it had come to the attention of the Union that the Company was not intending to allow PTR’s to take their fourth (4th) week of annual vacation once they reached their eighth (8th) year of service.

We filed the policy grievance once the Company denied a number of PTR’s their 4th week of entitlement as identified in Article 14 of the Collective Agreement, as this is when it became a violation of the Collective Agreement.  The policy grievance was heard through the grievance process and it is now on its way to arbitration.

We will now embark on the next step and that is for the Parties to agree to an arbitrator.  Once an arbitrator has been agreed to, the Parties will agree to dates provided by the arbitrator and we will prepare the case for arbitration.  It is likely that we will be looking at dates from the arbitrator that will take us into the year 2021.

If you have any questions please reach out to your job steward, or feel free to contact me.

We will keep you apprised as things develop.

In Solidarity,
Cindy A. Lee, Union Representative
