TransLink – Bargaining Negotiations – Update # 2 – September 10, 2020

September 10, 2020

To: All MoveUP members at TransLink

Your bargaining committee would sincerely like to thank everyone for their continued dedication and hard work during this unprecedented time. Your bargaining committee has been diligently working behind the scenes at securing a new collective agreement for you. We were set to launch into full bargaining with Translink at the end of February, however, the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world and impacted our strategy and preparation for bargaining. We then quickly found ourselves in talks with Translink around COVID-19 response and potential layoffs which we successfully averted. Your bargaining was then re-calibrated and we engaged in online bargaining with Translink with a streamlined agenda during the last several months.

The parties have agreed in principle on several items for the new collective agreement. We are still currently working on some outstanding language items for the new collective agreement. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this juncture, and we will update the membership as soon as we have a tentative deal.  A membership meeting will be convened to explain the terms of the new collective agreement and answer any of your questions.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the members of your bargaining committee.

In Solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee:

Safar Alikhani, Executive Board Member
Jennifer Froese, Executive Councillor
Parm Sandhar, Union Representative
