Bargaining

Kelowna Cabs – Bargaining Update #2

July 31, 2020

To All MoveUP Members at Kelowna Cabs

Back in June, your Union successfully resolved a few important labour relations issues through a Section 54 hearing at the Labour Relations Board. The Employer has now recalled all laid off employees and has stopped performing bargaining unit work. While the Employer navigates through various business interruptions, your Union has weekly discussions with the Employer about your rights, including but not limited to; reinstatement of your benefits, shift premium and shift bid.

At this time, we are glad to announce:

  • Your extended health benefits under Article 10.05 have been reinstated, starting the month of August, 2020. You are required to complete a new Manulife application form. If you have not yet received it, please follow up with your manager as soon as possible.
  • Starting July 28, 2020, the Employer will pay shift premiums set out in Article 6.11.

Your Union and the Employer aim to commence bargaining in the month of August, 2020. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via telephone or email.

In Solidarity,

Anny Chen, Union Representative
