Join the Golden Tree Farmworkers Vigil on March 7

March 4, 2020

To: MoveUP Members

It was just under 13 years ago on March 7, 2007 when an overloaded van taking farmworkers to work rolled over.

The tragic incident injured numerous workers and claimed three lives – Sukhvinder Kaur Punia, Amarjit Kaur Bal, and Sarabjit Kaur Sidhu.

The BC Federation of Labour (BCFED) has worked with the families to bring attention to health and safety issues for farmworkers, including the installation of the Golden Tree Monument in memory of all farmworkers killed and injured on the job.

On Saturday, March 7, the BCFED invite you to join the families of the fallen at the 2020 vigil.

Date: Saturday, March 7
Time: 11:30 a.m. (Reception); 12:30 p.m. (Ceremony)
Location: Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford)

Click here for an event poster that can be put up at your workplace.

We encourage members and their families and friends to attend if they are able to do so.

In solidarity,
