CUPE BC and Locals – Tentative Agreement Reached Between Parties

To: All MoveUP Members at CUPE BC and Locals


Your bargaining committee is pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with your employer, CUPE BC and Locals.

Some highlights of the tentative extension agreement include:

  • 3 Year Duration
  • 2% Wage Increase to the current salary scale for the first year of the agreement, retroactive to January 1, 2019
  • 2% Wage Increase in year two, 2% Wage Increase In Year Three
  • Domestic Violence Leave
  • Gender Reassignment Leave
  • Paid Christmas Closure Leave
  • Increases To Severance Pay and Notice Of Lay Off
  • Increased Protections Against Personal and Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
  • Modernization of Categories and Job Descriptions

Your bargaining committee is strongly recommending ratification of the tentative collective agreement.

The tentative agreement can be found here for your review.

We will be holding a meeting on April 16, 2019 in order to review the tentative agreement with you. In attendance will be your bargaining committee as well as Vice President of Combined Units, Christy Slusarenko. This will also be your opportunity to vote on the tentative agreement. The vote will be conducted by secret ballot.

Mail-in ballots are available to all members unable to attend the meeting on April 16, 2019. Please e-mail ksmith@moveuptogether.ca with your name and current home address if you are unable to attend and wish to request a mail-in ballot. Deadline to request a mail-in ballot is 4:00PM Friday, April 12, 2019.

The deadline for mail-in ballots to be received by the union office is 4:30PM Wednesday, April 24, 2019. The ballot count is currently scheduled for April 25, 2019.

PLACE: MoveUP Office – McPherson Room
301-4501 Kingsway, Burnaby

We will be providing a conference line for members employed outside the Greater Vancouver Area. Details will follow in a separate e-mail to those members home email.

The deadline for mail-in ballots to be received by the union office is April 24th, 2019. The ballot count is currently scheduled for April 25th, 2019.
