Joint Labour Management Committee (JLMC)

March 1, 2019

To: All MoveUP members covered by the Master Trade Union Group Agreement – Trade Union Offices (MTUG)

There is a requirement under Article 15.06 of your collective agreement for the parties to establish a Joint Labour Management Committee (JLMC). The JLMC is required to meet a minimum of three (3) times per year, for the purpose of discussing and making recommendations to the parties on issues relating to the workplace that affect the parties or any employee bound by this agreement.

The purpose of the JLMC is to promote the cooperative resolution of workplace issues as well as other related matters that may be referred to by the Parties.

The Union recognizes this may not be happening in all units.

We are going to be reaching out to your employer in order to set up an initial meeting. In offices where there is only one member, that member will be the committee. Depending on the size of the unit and how your employer would like to structure these meetings will determine how many members will be part of the Committee.

Your current collective agreement expires December 31, 2019. Although the JLMC committee is separate from bargaining, it is a good time to review that may not be working well in the workplace or make suggestions on how we might improve things.

Please note we will be contacting your Employer shortly.

Please reflect on constructive issues, either ongoing or new, that you feel we ought to discuss with your Employer.

In solidarity,

April Young
Union Representative
