SHUTTLER FACT SHEET #2 – Shifts – Scheduled and Otherwise

October 16, 2018

To: All Avis Shuttler MoveUP Members

The shift bid process will be taking place shortly, and it will see a set number of shifts available on a seniority basis (highest to lowest seniority).  Additional shifts may also be available after the bid, again, on a seniority basis.

If you have an upcoming medical or dental appointment on a day you are normally scheduled to work,  Article 21 outlines the Shift Change process that you may want to utilize to not lose hours in a pay period.

Where a general broadcast email has gone out inviting Shuttlers to pick up extra hours on an upcoming particularly busy day, it is okay to take that extra shift (because any who express interest, and are not invoking overtime, will be given an extra shift).

In other instances where a Shuttler forgets to arrange a shift trade, or has the capacity to pick up additional hours, it is not acceptable to ask QTA Office Staff to alter an assigned shift, or add an extra shift.  SENIORITY MUST ALWAYS BE RESPECTED!

In solidarity,

Mike Novak, Union Representative
