Lake City Casino De-certification

Wednesday, July 19, 2017
To: All members at Vernon Lake City Casino

As you are likely aware, an application was made by certain employees to decertify from your union. The Labour Relations Board of British Columbia must respond to these applications, even when they are made by a minority of the members in the bargaining unit. We must be clear that decertifying from your union serves only the interests of your employer, not yourselves as employees. Please be aware that promises made by management can be broken and wage rollbacks become a real possibility, along with the loss of your voice in the workplace. As such, we urge you to vote ‘Yes’ to continuing to have your union represent you in collective bargaining with your employer.

The Labour Relations Board has scheduled a vote to take place at your work location on Thursday, July 20, 2017 between 8:00 – 8:30am as well as 5:00 – 5:30pm to provide an opportunity for the early and late shifts to vote. The vote will take place in the training room. Please make every effort to attend.

Thank you,

Trevor Hansen
Union Representative
