Fair Funding for Capilano University

MoveUP represents almost 400 members at Capilano University. Although Capilano University offers unique, world-class education it receives very low per-student funding from the provincial government – the second lowest of all B.C.'s post-secondary institutions. Because of that, CapU made significant cuts to arts programs last year and has introduced across-the-board cuts for this year.

MoveUP and others have shown that unless the funding formula is corrected, it will be difficult to prevent future cuts and ensure CapU can continue to live up to its reputation and mandate of providing quality post-secondary education to the North Shore.

But the BC Liberal government keeps saying CapU just needs to make do.

It is clear that the MLAs whose communities CapU serves need to hear directly from more of their constituents on this issue.
